Eight Ways to Show Up for Yourself and Change Everything!

What does it mean to show up for yourself? Following is a list and some examples!

  1. Fully showing up for Myself means getting clear on my values and incorporating them into my life. Alignment of what I value and what I’m doing everyday (including where and with whom) creates more flow and purpose in my life.
  2. Keeping Promises to Myself. Doing what I said I would do, even when it’s inconvenient. Treating commitments to myself with the same respect as commitments to others.
  3. Prioritizing My Health & Well-Being. Nourishing my body with movement and whole foods, even when life is busy. Making sleep, hydration, and self-care non-negotiables.
  4. Strengthening My Mindset. Challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with empowering ones. Reframing setbacks as learning experiences rather than failures.
  5. Practicing Self-Discipline. Following through on my goals, even when motivation fades. Training my mind to embrace discomfort for long-term growth.
  6. Setting & Protecting Boundaries. Saying no to things that drain me or take me off track. Choosing relationships and environments that align with my Wellness Vision.
  7. Staying Rooted in Faith. Trusting that God has a plan for my health and future. Turning to prayer and scripture for strength rather than giving in to doubt or fear.
  8. Owning My Choices. Taking responsibility for my health and actions instead of making excuses. Acknowledging that every small choice adds up to big results.

I encourage you to print this list and put it in a place where you can read it often. It is that important because it embodies the power of commitment to yourself. Commitment to yourself involves knowing what is best for you. I have a Wellness Vision that guides my life and I happily share the methodology so you can create your own!

Life takes many twists and turns and comes with distractions and competing sources for your time and energy. What is a person to do? If you “give it all” to others, what is left for you? Your own health and vitality will suffer. I don’t know anyone who wants that for you!

Just like the Inspired Wellness 9 Pillars of Health, commitment is necessary to achieve lasting health transformation. It is not about motivation because motivation comes and goes. It’s so inconsistent. Commitment is showing up even when it’s hard. It includes a growth mindset because the way we think determines the actions we take.

My Story

My personal story of autoimmune remission was not an easy journey. I did not initially want to take the steps I knew were necessary until I got to the point where my suffering was harder than it would be to change my diet and move more. Getting out of my hole of complacency was like being a deep mud pit with slippery sides as I wanted to climb out. Making a commitment to myself became the first firm stepping stone for each step as I climbed out of the pit. The higher I climbed, the stronger my commitment to myself became. Success breeds more success. Getting started is the key.

The Difference Between Trying and Committing

Many people say they “want” better health, energy, or healing but don’t commit fully. Half- hearted attempts don’t lead to real transformation. I have experienced this and I’m sure you have too. We must go ALL-IN to see real results!

Likewise, autoimmune healing isn’t a quick fix—it requires daily choices. The 9 Pillars of Health worktogether, but only if we commit to practicing them consistently.

Practical Tips to Strengthen Your Commitment

  • Make a decision once—don’t keep renegotiating with yourself.
  • Start small—commit to ONE habit this week (drinking water, daily movement, prioritizing sleep).
  • Write it down—having a wellness vision keeps you focused on the bigger picture.

Conclusion & Call to Action

As I write this, I’m having my most challenging day of 75 Hard. I don’t “want” to do certain things but I also don’t want to give up. I am finding that my self-talk makes the difference. No excuses. No looking for the easier way. I decided that spending energy on those things was a waste and I should “just do it” and it will be over. Guess what! That’s what I did! I feel better and I did not quit. This is building more self-discipline and teaching me how to manage my mind when I prefer to be lazy.

I encourage you to ask yourself, Where am I making excuses? Where can I commit more fully?
