Why I’m Taking on 75 Hard: A New Chapter in My Wellness Journey

I have been MIA here. I needed to make a priority. If you follow my social, you know my 84-year-old father fell and broke a hip at their winter home about 1200 miles away. That happened three months ago and he’s fallen two more times since then! Both times while holding onto his walker. What the heck?! The last fall was three weeks ago and was the final straw. Mom has been caring for Dad at home and doing an excellent job but the last fall was devastating to begin again at ground zero. Mom was exhausted and overwhelmed. Dad was completely immobile and they needed help. I put my life and Inspired Wellness “on hold” so I could help. I flew in and we made good progress. I was able to bring them home two weeks later, to their more local, permanent home this week. The journey isn’t over but at least they are closer.

While I was in Arizona with my parents, I sat outside with Dad in his wheelchair, soaking up some sun and fresh air. One day earlier this week in the Arizona sun, God whispered something to my heart completely out of the blue. 75 Hard.

Okay, I’ve heard of that but I don’t know anything about it. I did not give it another thought.

Last night I opened my laptop to begin writing a blog post I was struggling to figure out a topic. Again, he whispered, 75 Hard.

Oh! I forgot about that. What is 75 Hard and what’s involved?

My google search quickly identified the answers to my questions. Oh, wow! I can do that!

Today is Day 1 of 75. I’m doing this! It resonates with me because God spoke it to me and I continually strive to improve myself and set lofty goals. I also know there is a reason for God to speak this to me and I suspect it is to build more resilience for some tough times and decisions ahead concerning my Dad.

March 6, 2025 to May 20, 2025

  • Drink 1 gallon of water per day
  • Follow a clean diet of my choice
  • No cheat meals and no alcohol
  • Two 45-minute workouts per day, one must be outside. The two workouts must be at least 3 hours apart.
  • Read at least 10 pages per day of a non-fiction, self-improvement or business book.
  • Take a progress photo each day.

There are no shortcuts, no excuses. The outside workout is regardless of weather conditions. This is meant to be hard! Pushing through develops/enhances resilience. If you have to ask if a particular workout counts, the answer is probably no. Stretching is good but it doesn’t count as a workout. Get the idea?

75 Hard was created by Andy Frisella who states on his website, “This is not a Fitness Challenge. 75 Hard is a transformative mental toughness program. Are there physical changes? Yes! But trust me when I say the physical changes you see on the outside are a FRACTION of the results you can earn by completing 75 HARD. Think of this as an Ironman for your brain!”

If you know me, you know I’m a 4-time Ironman Triathlon finisher. Those words, ‘this is an Ironman for your brain’ sounds exciting. I get that mentality. I can do hard things. YOU can too!

God also spoke to my heart to share this journey with you. It will not be easy. It will be especially difficult on busy days, especially two workouts at least 3 hours apart. The reason for that is to challenge time management.

You will have the opportunity to watch this journey from the sidelines OR you can participate at some level! It’s doesn’t have to be 75 Hard, but it could be! It can be doing something else that is hard or you have been procrastinating about.

75 Hard correlates with my 9 pillars of health – both involve showing up for yourself daily with commitment, growth mindset and a deeper purpose. Knowing our “why” pulls us through the most difficult days.

This challenge is not about me. It’s about proving that change is possible for anyone willing to commit. Including when change is hard or we don’t know where to begin. Mindset, discipline, resilience and self-care will be outcomes of the challenge.

I will share my journey daily on my socials with a deeper reflection in this weekly blog. You can follow along on Facebook or Instagram.

I’m stepping up to this and have only known what it is for less than 24 hours. Can I do this? Well, I think so, but putting it out there to YOU means I HAVE to do it! This is accountability. We all do better and are more motivated when we have some accountability.

Follow me and join me in whatever capacity is right for you! I hope to be an encouragement for you and I will be sharing my authentic thoughts along the way. Oh! If you have ever done 75 Hard, let me know! I am learning as I go.

Now I need to go for my outdoor walk – 2nd workout of the day.

Cheers!

In love and health,

Terri
