It’s early September, and despite what the weather may be doing, it seems the time to switch into Fall mode. School has begun, and routines are re-emerging. We are losing daylight, which is the biggest thing (to me) that screams Fall is here!
Summer has been great, and the rest of the year will be, too. But Fall teaches me about renewal. It feels like a bridge season between the holidays and winter, when I can get back to my routine and even some healthy habits that have unintentionally slipped over the summer.
Do you resonate with this? If I’m dealing with “getting back on track,” surely others are too! I’m calling it Fall Reset.
Head Space
It begins between my ears. My headspace dictates my actions despite what I know I should do. Mindset is everything. I’ve written many blog articles on mindset. Here is one particularly helpful blog about showing up for yourself. Click here to read it.
The Wellness Lesson of Fall
- Letting Go: Trees shed leaves → we can let go of habits, patterns, or thoughts that no longer serve us.
- Rest and Renewal: Shorter days invite us to slow down, restore energy, and prepare for growth.
- New Beginnings: Each season opens the door to a new chapter in our journey.
Seasons of Wellness in Our Lives
The new season may be cue to take action. You can form new habits but notice I didn’t say remove old or bad habits. Focus on the positive and form new habits that leave little to no time or desire for old habits. Think on the things you “get” to do and not what you “can’t” do.
Don’t forget to build in time for stillness, rest, reflection and recovery for balanced wellness. Balance is important in all areas.
My New Chapter: Writing and Publishing My Memoir
Personal note: Fall is a season of transition for me, too. Writing my memoir has been a season of reliving my illness and being reminded of God’s grace. Now, I’m preparing to step into a new chapter: sharing my story with the world through my book, Faithful Autoimmune Remission. More details about the release will be coming soon, but it will be very soon! I’m taking a bold step of faith by putting my vulnerable personal story into the world with the intention of helping others. God will use it since He called me to this; I’m simply being obedient.
Reflection
What do you want or need to let go of in this season? Where do you need rest or renewal? What new chapter are you stepping into?
These are big questions that may require quiet reflection. Journaling is one of my favorite tools.
Conclusion: Embrace the Season You’re In
Every season of life has a purpose; whether its fast-paced or restful, God has a purpose and if likely will lead to personal and spiritual growth. Whatever season you’re in, I encourage you to embrace it with gratitude.
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Ecclesiastes 3:1
