Last week I announced my group course titled Thrive 360: The Ultimate 9 Pillar Blueprint for Autoimmune Health. Then I had an epiphany! Actually, it was nothing to do with me, it was GOD speaking to me!
The content of the course I am offering is beyond awesome! It is a perfect recipe for optimal health in all areas of life! It is an opportunity to learn how to manage and even beat chronic disease! Why are people not jumping all over it? I’m offering a bare bones rate with great support and value in addition to wonderful learning opportunities in an easy to digest fashion.
The answer? Most people are not in the right mindset. Status quo is enough for many. Perhaps they believe their lack is their lot in life and can’t be changed? Or perhaps they are not willing to make the effort to create change? Or maybe they don’t believe anything can change or they are not capable of making a change and sticking to it?
Recently I had an interaction with someone that was puzzling to me. She was posting about her health condition and her extreme limitations. I felt immediate empathy and told her, “I can help you!” She wasn’t interested in having any help or making any change. My immediate thought was oh my, she would rather publicly complain than do anything to help herself? Then I realized my friend is not in the proper mindset to understand she DOES have power to improve her condition. That is so sad to me.
There is no question – change is not easy! The old adage, if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
There is truth to this. So, I ask. If some people know it’s not easy, but they do it anyway, why and how do they do it? This is the million-dollar question!
I’m giving you a few answers from my personal experience as well as from working with clients.
1. They Have a Strong “Why”
Making changes in your health and life requires determining your WHY. This is a process to dig deep and understand what you want your life to look like and why you want it to look that way. It’s some deep, personal work. I guide my 1:1 clients on this journey with prompts but ultimately it’s up to you! You are the expert of you! You know your values and things/people that are important to you. It’s important to identify your WHY and visualize it, reminding yourself daily. It will motivate you when things get tough.
2. They Focus on Small, Consistent Steps
Big changes can feel overwhelming, but breaking them down into small, manageable actions makes them less intimidating. Successful people focus on one thing at a time—like swapping out one unhealthy meal a day or starting with a 10-minute walk.
Do not try to do it all at once. Focus on one small change and build from there. Consistency over time creates lasting habits.
3. They Embrace Imperfection
They know it won’t be a perfect journey, and setbacks are part of the process. Instead of letting one bad day derail their efforts, they get back on track the next day without beating themselves up but learning from the setback. Perhaps triggers, etc. They also give themselves grace and flexibility. If you slip up, that’s okay—what matters is what you do next. Progress, not perfection, is the goal.
4. They Seek Support and Accountability
People are more likely to stick with difficult changes when they have support—whether from friends, family, a coach, or an online community. Accountability helps them stay motivated and committed to their goals. Having support can make all the difference. You don’t have to do it alone. I am always honored to support you!
5. They Focus on the Positive
Instead of focusing on what they’re giving up, they focus on what they’re gaining—like more energy, fewer symptoms, or feeling better in their body. This shift in mindset helps them stay motivated, even when the changes are hard. This is called having a growth mindset. It’s empowering! On the other hand, having a fixed mindset means you don’t believe you can or will be able to change.
Celebrate the small wins. Notice how you feel after eating healthier or moving your body. Keep your focus on what you’re gaining, not what you’re losing.
6. They Trust the Process
They know that true change takes time, and they’re committed to the journey, even if results aren’t immediate. Trusting that the small actions they take today will pay off in the long run helps them keep going. In fact, there can be setbacks along the way but this is part of the process and not a sign to quit.
Trust that the changes you’re making today will lead to a healthier, happier tomorrow. Stay patient with the process—it’s worth it!
Conclusion
Mindset is crucial for achieving goals because it shapes how you approach challenges, setbacks, and opportunities. A positive, growth-oriented mindset helps you stay resilient, adapt to difficulties, and maintain motivation, even when the path to success is tough. When you believe in your ability to improve and learn, you’re more likely to persevere, take action, and stay committed. On the other hand, a fixed mindset can lead to self-doubt, procrastination, and giving up when obstacles arise. Ultimately, mindset influences both your behavior and outcomes.
